The sculptures in this work, belonging to four stylistic groups from Central Africa - congo, teke, luba and songye - were selected for their beauty with the aim of privileging the sculpted signs attached to magic and sorcery. The text and the photographs give these works an original lighting that guides the eye and allows to discover the sublime, the seduction or the magical, the unknown, the fear. As the collector wanted, this work goes off the beaten track, invites us to leave our preconceived ideas about understanding or not understanding African arts, to open up to universal and infinite dimensions.
