Tribal Art

This reference book is the result of an in-depth work on the various cultures of the tribes of Black Africa. Each of them is presented through its most significant ritual and functional objects, thus allowing a clear vision of its different styles. The result of a complex creative process involving several people - the commissioner, the village diviner, and the sculptor - African art objects always had a religious, social, or magical function and were rarely created for purely decorative purposes.
